May Day.....Release Day!

Who’s in the mood for a dance party?  I am, I am!!!  Wanna know why? Because I’m finally bringing you Jessica and Eli’s story.

Everyone back from their dance party? Cool. Admittedly that video was a little strange. And anyone else weirded out that homeboy singing the hook was NOT John Legend???? I digress.

Finally, it’s here.  Mismatch is finally here.  I can’t tell you how happy I am to bring the next installment of the Love Match series to you.  I won’t lie to you, these two gave me fits.  It wasn’t until I finally let go of my plan that these two started to cooperate with me.

And any of you who know me know I’m not down with giving up my plan at all.  I kicked.  I screamed. I cried.  Even my three year old shook her head at me like I was crazy. But I finally let go and started having some fun.

Mismatch begins about a year after Game, Set, Match leaves off and Izzy, Jason, Nick and even Aaron make appearances.  We also meet the sexy Marks men.  Eli is dark and broody and Samson is fun and flirtatious. These men are sexy I tell you!  And crazy Jessica, whoo! She as always is a riot and keeps the snark coming.

Well, I’m thrilled to say, that I’m on track!  Wahoo!  Yes, I’ll be the first to admit that I honestly have had many times in the last few months where I thought I was insane and bit off way more than I can chew.  But, you know what, I’m a stubborn chick and I don’t like the idea of failing at anything.  You can ask my husband, it sometimes makes me a sore loser.

April Showers Bring Fab ...

You all back now?  Hey gang! Yes It’s been a little while, but there is a reason for it.  I’ve been hard at work!  There’s so much to tell you, I don’t even know where to begin.  Well, actually, that’s not entirely correct.  True to my project manager nature, let me update you on the crazy goal I set back in January:

(Shudder)  I can’t even believe I wrote that down.  Next time someone has to stop me before I commit to something so crazy.  But you want to know what? I’m tracking to make it!  It also means my fingers are flying over the keyboard.

Onto the new book news!  I know you guys have been waiting for the next installment of my Chick-Lit with Heat novellas, Exposed.  I do hate to disappoint you guys.  Production was delayed a couple of weeks, but I’m thrilled to announce the release date as April 15th.  It’ll give you something to smile about on tax day.  So excited.  Want the sneak peak?  Here you go:

March Madness...

Going into the new month, I wanted to update you all on my progress so far for the year.

As always I’m hard at work and typing as fast as my little fingers can and these characters won’t let me sleep.  Oh and let me know what you think about the new website :)

So first things first, I have to thank each and every one of you for helping me hit my goals.  In the month of February, I made both the iTunes Breakout Books section and the USA Today bestseller list.  I’m gobsmacked.  I can’t even believe my good fortune.  I know I couldn’t do it without each of you so many thanks and mad love.

In other name news… 

Q. Malone officially launched the Chick-Lit with Heat series with the release of Corporate Affairs a couple of weeks ago.  Thank you for everyone who participated in the release party.  It was loads of fun and I gave out bunches of books.  I just love doing those and getting to hang out with all of you guys.  I’m also planning on adding a Kindle Fire party at the end of March to celebrate the release of the next Chick-Lit with Heat book, Exposed.  More details to come.

Also, I’ve got the official cover for Exposed!  Exciting right? Exposed will be released at the end of March.

In Audio news…

The fabulous Traci Odom has done another fantastic job.  I just approved the audio for Game, Set, Match.  It sounds fantastic.  I fell in love with Izzy, Jason and the whole gang just by listening to the story again.  So excited!  It will be up in the next couple of weeks.  I’ll keep you all posted.  Traci is also slated to so Sultry in Stilettos and sassy in Stilettos audiobooks this summer too!

Also happening in the audio world, I’ve had the Reluctant Protector Prequel made into an audio book!  Yay.  As soon as it’s live on Audible, I’ll let you all know.  For all my newsletter subscribers, I’ll be offering the title free in weekly posts.  That’s right, free!  Cool right?  A chapter a week.  If you still haven’t joined my newsletter, now’s the time to do it.

Blistering Books, Bestsellerdom & Bookbub....Oh My

2013 Began with a bang!

Last month I posted that I was going to attempt to produce 12 Books/book products in 12 months.  So far I’m off to a good start and I’m on track for my goal. 

This year I have all sorts of romance goodness planned, including new books, audiobooks, bundles and a new pen name.

A New Name….A New Me

That’s right. I’ll be venturing into the world of erotic romance writing a series of novelettes I’m calling Chick Lit with Heat.  I’ll be producing these titles under my Pen name Q Malone so I’ll keep you guys abreast of those happenings. The first title, Corporate Affairs will be released this month.  I’m so excited to try something new.  I’m still me, so there will be lots of humor and the pages will still scorch, but these will be in fun little bite sized morsels. 

Audiobook Madness

I’ll also be bringing you more audiobooks!  I’m happy to announce that as of today Sexy in Stilettos has sold over 150 copies.  Woot!  Traci Odom did a fantastic job on the narration.  And I liked her so much, I asked her to come back and narrate Game, Set, Match, Sultry in Stilettos and Sassy in Stilettos.  So she’ll be just a tad busy this year.  Lol.  I'll also be offering  a free version of my Protectors Series sequel, Betrayed.

 


The Story Continues

I’m also happy to announce that I’ll be continuing two of my series this year and offering the books with their predecessors in bundle format.  For those of you that loved Game, Set, Match,  I’m happy to say that Jessica is finally getting her story.  I’m in edits for this right now and anticipate an April release, so keep your eyes peeled.  And the long awaited conclusion to the In Stilettos Series, Sassy in Stilettos is planned for May release.  Woohoo.  I’m having so much fun writing Micha and Caleb’s story.  They relaly are a fun couple to play with.

Now for the super exciting news.  On Monday, February 4th, thanks to a Bookbub promotion,  I hit the top twenty on the Amazon overall best seller list even making the movers and shakers list.  I also made the top ten lists for Barnes & Noble and iTunes. 

So exciting!!!  I’ve been biting my nails for the last three days to see where this is all going to land.  I broke a cardinal rule of a writer on a deadline and have been checking my sales hourly.  Lol.  Hubby finally cured me of my affliction by threatening to take the laptop away.

12 Books in 12 Months - Can It Be Done?

Happy belated New Year everyone!

I’d planned to do this post a little earlier, but got hit with a nasty-ass-slap-your-baby’s-germy-little-friends virus.  At any rate it’s that time of year again where I shun the word resolutions and put down some hard assed insane goals. 

To remind you all, last year about this time, I was nuts enough to think that I could produce 7 books in a year with a husband a baby a puppy and a full time gig.  I actually managed with 8, but all year, I kept thinking, how much easier it would be if I was writing full time.

Thanks to you all who’ve supported my books and my darling husband who has supported me, I’m living the dream and writing full time this year!!!! Wahoo.  So excited.  A little terrified, but mostly excited.

So here it is: 

I will produce at least twelve book products in 2013!

You read that right.  I said twelve.  Yes, I’m nuts, I know, but go big or go home right?  I will continue to bring you sassy and hot romantic comedies, but I’ll also be branching out into a new arena with even hotter novellas. Something for those of you who like a little extra Habanero with your spicy ;) I’m calling them Chick Lit with heat.  I’ll be putting those under my Pen Name “Q Malone.”  Not to worry, I’ll still let you know when they’re coming out.  I’ll still be doing FB release parties and I’ll still be having some great sales.  I’ll also be creating a too hot to handle section of my website where you’ll be able to find them.

More awesomeness coming this year, I’ll be bringing you the audiobooks for Game, Set, Match, Sultry in Stilettos, and Sassy in Stilettos.  It’s going to be a busy, busy yeah and I can’t wait to get it all going.

You know accountability is my middle name, so, I’ll be posting my progress throughout the year to let you all know how I’m coming along.  I’ll be needing your help to keep me moving forward.

Happy Sassy Writing 1/2

Okay, So I fell off the wagon.  Yes already.  I only managed 500 today.  I knew it would be a crazy day with the baby and a hair appt and plans with friends, but thought I could make the 1500 word count.  Yikes.

Day two of the new year and I'm already behind. Okay, ti's fine.  Happens to everyone.  At the end of the day, the goal for the week was 7500 for the week and I'll still make it by hook or by crook.  I'm nearing the end of the first draft, so I can do this.

On a positive note, Game, Set, Match has gone into production for audio.  Yay!  The fabulous Traci Odom will be narrating GSM as well. You can look for the audio in March.

I hope the rest of you are faring better with your goals.  On the plus side, I got a fierce hair cut and got rid of my grays.  I feel like a whole new woman :)

Happy Sassy Writing...1/1

So here it is New Year's day.  I'm happy to report I hit my writing goals for yesterday and today.  1500 words each day.  I'm happy with the progress.  Though I feel like I"m getting a little lost with Jessica and Eli.  Something about the lovely couple isn't gelling and it's irritating me.  I'll get it sorted, but it's one of those things keeping me up at night.

So I'll be doing my annual goals post tomorrow so you guys can keep me honest.  AND I'll be trying something new.  I'll be attempting to keep a little daily diary on my first year as a full time writer. 

And thanks so much to those of you who responded about my foray into a pseudonym.  You helped me greatly.  I'll be wading into the waters of a nom de plume next month when I release my first title in my Chick Lit with Heat erotic romance series. 

I'm taking ideas for my pen name :)

Happy Sassy Writing...12/28

So I'm happy to report that I'm on top of my word count.  Now it's a matter of matching my word count with my scenes to make sure I'm on target to finish the book.  Sometimes I can get a little long winded.  Lol.

Yesterday's goal of 1000 was met.  Today's goal of 2000 words was met.  I'll probably even swing another 1000 today just for shits and giggles.  The muse is here so best to wring her dry before she gallivants to parts unknown again.  Why can't she ever go anywhere accessible like La Jolla?

I am a little behind on my outlive for Sassy in Stilttos i'll admit.  I'm not quite gettig Micha and Caleb to cooperate like I want, but then again the two of them have a bumpy road, but I"ll probably get it done this weekend.

Now a question for my fans.  I've got this great idea for a series of Romantic erotica shorts.  But I can't decide if I should put them under my name or a pseudonym.  What do you guys think?

Okay, so my official second day away from the DDJ and I managed to put away 2k new words toward MisMatch (Jessica from Game, Set Match’s story).  And that’s with the Bratlette roaming around.  I must say, not being in an office is doing wonders for my productivity already.  Now all I have to do is prep for a January blog tour and outline two more stories.

As I prepare for 2013 and another set of insane goals, one thing I want to do more of is keep you all abreast of how I’m coming along with my goals.  And to help me make sure that I don’t spend all my time watching Lifetime movies instead of writing.

So I’ll be posting my writing progress here three times a week so you guys can help keep me honest. Any other writers who want to join me in my quest for a more productive 2013 are welcome to share their word counts in my comments.

I love it when a plan comes together...

Back in January, I posted my goals for this year.  I temporarily lost my mind and posted a BHAG (Big, Hairy, Audacious) goal that I would release 7 book products this year.  Immediately after I wrote my blog post, I began making an aggressive plan of action, completely forgetting that I have a husband, a bratlette, o Scottish Terrier and oh yeah, a dreaded day job.

I am happy to report that as of today, I’ve hit my goal!  Yep that’s right, I hit my goal.  In the 2012, I have released the following:

Sultry in Stilettos (A Sultry Contemporary Romance)
Betrayed (A Protector’s Prequel)

Wowza!  I can’t believe it either.  It certainly wasn’t easy, but man what a ride.  Some other outstanding things that happened this year, I released two audiobooks with a third in production.

Reluctant Protector’s audio released in July of this year and Sexy in Stilettos’ audio released  just this past November.  Game, Set, Match’s audio will release in February of 2013.

More exciting news – Thanks to you guys, as of December 21st, I’ll be a full time writer! Holy cow, right? Did I actually pull this off?  Looks like it.  Next year, you can look forward to two more installments in the Protectors series.  I’ve got a whole new series in the works  And of course there will be more of those sassy romantic comedies you’ve come to expect from me.  I’ll be doing a goals post shortly.  Now that I’ll be writing full time, expect even crazier goals for next year.

Romance With Sass (Dating Advice)

You gotta help me out. Now, I don't know if any of you have ever worked nights before. My guy and I are both in our twenties, both working in the same city in careers we love, but ever since I started the night shifts at the local hospital's ER, he and I barely even cross paths. It's not anyone's fault but I really know it's taking its toll on our relationship (not to mention our sex life). We get Sundays together but even that is also reserved for seeing family. What in the world do I do to make the best out of this situation?

Ricca: You jjust have to make sure the time you have together is precious.  No hanging out just loafing around.  If you don't have a lot of time, you make it quality time.

Micha: Uhm, you mean to tell me you all don't have those on call rooms like in Grey's Anatomy?  Bummer.  But you can still make it a point to treat him right when you see  him.  You have a rare opportunity to keep things fresh.  And I hate to sound so much like Jaya, but you need to schedule nookie time.  It's a must.  You need to make each other a priority.

Jaya: Okay, you need a calendar.  And you need to make every other Sunday family time.  You have to honor the primary relationship. and you can also each try waking up jjust 30 minutes earlier.  That way you get some overlap time to see each other.  Hope this helps!

Ricca: You cook.  And not just cook, but something elaborate and difficult to do.  Make it really special like a multiple course meal.  That's a great way you can show him how much you care about him.

Micha: Uhm, this is a no brainer.  Give him thirty days of sex. The key is they have to be consecutive here.  it'll build intimacy and closeness and also muddle his brain :)  The key is to mix it up.  Phone sex one night.  Role play another.  Keep it fresh and as kinky as you want ;)

Okay, depending on the city you live in, you can find a ton of free stuff to do together.  Make a list of them all and vow to try one of the new things a week even if it isn't your cup of tea.  One larger type of present is to do a scavenger hunt all over your city with sexily hidden clues.  Like on in your bra etc. The key is to spend quality time together.  It's not about the money.

Here's my quandary for you. My personality's the type where I'm constantly joking around, very touchy-feely, at times flirty to the point where it leads people on. I'm not aware of how intense I get sometimes, and there's plenty of nights these days where my guy and I go out with a group of friends, I get carried away with my conversations and body language at the bar, and later on he and I have a civilized talk about how much I'm messing him up with my insensitivity. He's frankly really cool about it afterwards but I know I'm hurting his feelings. How do I work on keeping the 'me' of all of it but maybe putting out the wrong signals when we go out?

Here's what we have to say.

Ricca:  Oh wow.  I'ts hard not feeling like yourself.  The best thing you can do is communicate in the moment.  Like have a signal or something.  We're often not aware of how we're behaving in the moment.  like when you start getting carried away, he taps his temple or the small of your back or something.  And that's a signal for you to back off.  And it will help you realize when you're doing it.  and then you guys can talk about that.  it's great he's so understanding, but you need to understand his limits and stick with them if you want to stay together.

Micha: I agree with Ricca.  Surprise, surprise.  Though I would say have him video tape you.  Cause if you're like me, you dont' believe anything until you see it.  And you might, like me, go into full on bitch mode if someone tries to tell you what to do in the moment.  *shrug* it happens :)  Everyone has a smart phone these days, so it's easy enough to set up.  Then next time you guys are having and , uhm, civilized convo, he can play it back for you.

Jaya: Both good points guys, but my question is more along the lines of knowledge.  If you know you do this, and are aware that it can lead people on, then why do you still do it?  Is there something about the attention that you love?  And is there a way you can turn that need towards your man? Like when you're talking to someone instead of directing your hands to wards them, direct your touching towards your boyfriend.  Just a thought.

Dear ladies,

You are my last resort. Please help me out here. I've backed myself into a corner where I never thought I'd end up. My mom always told me not to crap where I eat, and I'm not sure I've followed that advice through. See, the last couple months I've started hooking up on the regular with a fantastic guy – he's smart, his wit has me keeling over with laughter all the time, and his looks leave me blushing and stuttering whenever we make eye contact. The catch, you ask? I'm his boss. No one knows, but we're not exactly as cautious as we should be. I hate to say it, but it's only a matter of time. What would you do in my uncomfortable shoes, cute as they may be?

Here's what we have to say.

Ricca: Oh man.  Love is hard.  Well, okay, you need to determine what your employer's policy is on dating coworkers.   What are those things called again.  Oh yeah love contracts.  Many larger employers have them.  And they just state that both parties are in a consensual relationship yadda yadda yadda.  Though, uhm, i hate to bring this up, because I believe in happy endings, but have you thought about what happens if it doesn't work out.  What will that mean for his job?  Yours? His future promotion potential?  Just be careful.

Micha: Wow. Look girl, get your flirt on or whatever, but have your resume ready.  These things have a way of going south quickly.  Is your company big enough for you to transfer, or even better for him to? this is the kind of messy you don't really want a part of, unless you can be impartial when you two end and he starts dating another woman.  Can you be impartial and still offer him promotions?  And be direct and clear about his performance without getting personal.  Can he come pack and say that you're persecuting him because of a bad breakup?  If you're not sure on the answers to these questions, then I'd suggest getting your resume ready, cause there is no way this can turn out well.

Jaya: For once I agree with both my girls.  Yes, even Micha.  You need to evaluate, preferably with a pro/con list how much you value yoru job.  If your company has a love contract, then use it.  Go right to HR and sign that puppy. But like Micha says, have your resume ready or be prepared to transfer.  You can't help who you're attracted to, but these kind of power relationships are really messy.  But look, if your pro/con list comes out on the side of Pro, then have a good heart to heart with your honey and tell him your concerns.  And for the love of God, establish some work place rules so you don't get caught.  Secret dating can be hot!

I'm gonna get right to the point. Plain and simple, I seem to be a creep magnet. While everyone I know seems to end up dating wholesome, funny, sweet guys, I go through the dating circuit again and again and come up empty-handed, except for absolutely crazy dudes who are one step away from asking for a lock of my hair or showing me where they keep preserved organs in their basement. Basically, my question is this: how do I ward off these guys when I'm putting myself out there?

Here's what we have to say.

Ricca: Oh God.  Uhm okay.  Wow.  Sorry.  'Cause I've certainly been there.  But remember, not to compare yourself to others.  but it's all abotu being open to love no matter where ti may come from.  It really attracts love to you. In the meantime, maybe try a dating service where all the men are vetted.  And I hate to say it, but maybe you take a break from the dating scene for a while and focus on you for a little while.  Your guy is coming.

Micha: Oh hell no!  Ricca, I love that whole yours will come thing. But a creeper is a creeper.  Honey, carry pepper spray.  That's the only way to take care of a creep.  That and Krav Maga.  Although, Ree has a point, don't compare yourself to anyone else.  You don't know what kind of crazy they are dealing with behind closed door.  Dating service isn't a bad idea, but the key is, believe you're the hottest bitch around.  Creepers feed off of insecurity.  Go after you want and be unapologetic about it.

Jaya: For once Micha and I agree on believing in yourself.  Yay for hot chicksin fab heels! But the best way to find someone is to be systematic.  Make yourself a list of all the characteristics you're looking for in someone and hire a match maker.  It's more personal and the vetting is done for you.


Goals Update - 8/6 - Book 4 of 7

Hiya gang,

What's crackin'?  So last I left you I was regaling you with stories of audio books and editing and fab new intern helping me hit my goals.  Well the story continues.

Audiobook for Sexy in Stilettos.  Alas this has fallen through.  Suckage I know.  Sometimes you try something and it doesn't work.  So I'm in search of a new audio book producer.  More deets to come.  But with the help of my trusty intern (otherwise known by hubster as indentured servant) I will find the right voice for the book.  Stay tuned.  Sexy will be going up before the end of the year.

In re-release news, Game, Set, Match re-releases in September!  Woots.  For those of you that hadn't checked out my first release, this is your opportunity.  I'll be doing a release party and giving away free copies.  (I love treating my readers.)  And I have a new cover.  Y'all ready...

Isn't it purdy!  I love Kim Killion and her team.  They do such great work.

As for my flying fingers of romance writing.  Man are they flying.  Intern Gaia has me on a strict schedule.  And get this, she's not letting me check any of my sales number or anything.  She gives a whole new meaning to BITCHOK (Butt in chair hands on keyboard.)  Current goal is 3k a day.  Yeah you see that correctly, 3000 words a day.  Madness right given DDJ, Hubster, Bratlette, Wonder Pup and the myriad of USA shows that need watching (Me hearts me some Suits - Werk your fine behind Harvey)  Sultry in Stilettos will go to my editor at the end of August.

I don't know how long I can keep up this whole 3k a day thing, but I have to tell you, it feels awesome to be this productive.  And quite frankly, Intern was just the boost I needed.  How am I doing this you ask?  The math is simple.  I can generally write 500 in fifteen minutes.  So this entails 6 writing sprints a day.  This also entails waking up at the ass crack of dawn to kick start this process.  I'm talking booty basement ass crack of dawn.  5AM.  It's rough, but works for me.  Will keep you all posted on my  progress.
